Today students worked on their water issues projects. They have come up with some great demonstrations. During my internship at UNT, I discovered Green electrical snap kits that demonstrate alternative energy. These kits are great and allow students to work on a predesigned project or design their own. It has worked really well in this part of the curriculum.
Students are demonstrating the specific heat of water |
These students needed to practice their demonstration so I sent them next door to the biology class and let them demonstrate. We didn't want our class to see the demonstrate yet - we wanted it to be a surprise. They always expect the water balloon to pop like the air balloon. Students have always gotten tired before the water balloon burst. still don't know how long it would take to burst it.
One of the things that is clear also that photos and videos are a great way to encourage students participate. This year I want them to set up their own blog and use it in place of a formal lab report. I am encouraging them to post pictures and videos of what they do. This will be new experience for me and my students.
